Teeners is Red Land Youth Baseball’s fully advanced division for teenage players. At this level, players are extremely serious about playing competitive baseball. Many players receive private instruction and play on travel baseball teams. The ball is hit and thrown extremely hard at this level. All players must be able to appropriately protect themselves. This level provides players with high-level instruction, skill development, learning, and strategy. Players know what positions they enjoy playing and will be most successful at. The game moves very quickly, and players are advanced in their skills and knowledge. All players can catch, throw, hit, and field. Games and practices are held on full-sized fields with 90’ foot base paths. Pitchers throw from 60.5’ feet away. The game at this level is played as ‘real baseball’. This means that full baseball rules apply, such as: leads and pick-offs, pitching from the stretch position, balks, unlimited advancing on the bases, dropped 3rd strike, infield fly-rule, etc. Scores and standings are kept. ‘Out of league’ games are played against teams from other local leagues. At the end of the regular season, rec-playoffs are held and a champion is determined. A main objective of Teeners is to increase player development and understanding of advanced baseball concepts. Defensive alignments/plays, bunting, stealing bases, baserunning, and game-strategy will be utilized.
