Cardiac Emergency Response

RED LAND YOUTH BASEBALL

Cardiac Emergency Response Plan

It is the goal of the Red Land Youth Baseball to provide all youth athletes with a fun and safe arena to learn and play the sport of baseball. Part of this goal is to have AED/CPR trained volunteers to respond in cases of cardiac emergencies for youth and all spectators.

At the Newberry Complex, the AED is stored immediately inside the snack bar facing the parking lot. There is a sign.

Warning Symptoms that May Lead to Sudden Cardiac Arrest Include:

●Dizziness
●Fainting
●Shortness of breath
●Chest pain

If a child collapses after being struck in the chest, they need to be evaluated for Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

In Case of Sudden Cardiac Arrest:

● An adult should will assess the child/adult for airway, breathing, and circulation (ABC’s). This includes finding pulse.
● If no pulse is found, CPR is to be initiated immediately by a trained individual.
● Meanwhile, someone should call 9-1-1 immediately while retrieving the AED from the assigned location.
● Once AED is on scene, coach and assistant coach will apply and use AED as trained and instructed until Emergency Medical Services are on scene.
●Once EMS is on scene and the patient is being cared for, all information will be passed on to EMS including mechanism of injury, estimated time of injury and collapse. Time CPR was initiated and AED use began.
