Triple A LEVEL OF PLAY

OVERVIEW

Triple A is Red Land Youth Baseball’s intermediate-level division for youth players. At this level, players are starting to get more serious about playing competitive baseball. Some players have begun to get private instruction and play on travel baseball teams. This level introduces players to higher-level instruction, skill development, learning, and strategy. By now, many players have started to figure out what positions they enjoy playing and will be most successful at. The game is moving quicker, and players are more advanced in their skills and knowledge. Players can catch, throw, hit, and field. Games and practices are held on fields with 60’ foot base paths. This level is player-pitch only (from 46’). Scores and standings are kept. ‘Out of league’ games are played against teams from other local leagues. At the end of the regular season, rec-playoffs are held and a champion is determined. A main objective of Triple A is to help players with understanding more advanced baseball concepts. Defensive alignments/plays, bunting, stealing bases, baserunning, and game-strategy will be taught and utilized. Players with higher skills will have an opportunity to begin competing on the Cal Ripken Tournament Trail for their age-group. The tournament trail is a progressive tournament which starts at the Districtlevel, then States, Regionals, and finally the World Series. Teams compete to continue moving on the trail by earning a bid.
